Charles Glasspool and the Big Love

Many well-known and respected artists have sang Charles Glasspool’s songs; Juno award winner Serena Ryder, Andre Ethier (member of the Polaris Prize nominated band the Deadly Snakes), and Canadian chanteuse Lilly Frost to name a few. He has been a member of the critically lauded band the Burning Hell and was a contributing songwriter and performer with the Bob Lanois produced band the Silverhearts. Mr. Glasspool teaches elementary school, looks silly when he dances, and has a penchant for tight slacks. His first recording with the band the Big Love is called “Mudtown”.

Okee

I first met Brandon Sheppard - aka “Okee” - on Owen Sound’s main street, where he was busking with an acoustic guitar.  Little did I know this folk-singer-by-day was also an amazing electronic-musician-by-night, conjuring up sophisticated beats with pyschadelic textures by the light of his home computer.  We’re totally stoked to be working with Okee to release some of his cool electronic creations. Look for his first release with Mudtown Records sometime in 2010. – Josh

Woe

Woe is “the noise, that crackle buzz when you plug a guitar in. That dirty humming, awful buzzing sound until you place your fingers on the strings and start to play.”  Woe is Jacob Chegahno, “…thrust into our consciousness by forces unknown and beyond our comprehension…our wills bent to admire and venerate his illustrious presence…we would no doubt sing his praises without this mind-bending power…but nothing is left to chance in the ever-unfolding scheme of this amazing being.”

Jake Chegahno affirms the pains and ironies of life in his hypnotic home recordings.  With a combination of sardonic humour, feedback, and a tender, emotional voice, he creates songs that are at once touching and fearful.

He lives in Owen Sound with his cat Jibboo.
